Build up!

Hi folks,

Sorry it has been a while, I have no idea where that time went!

Not a massive amount of progress in the last couple of months, but I have gotten through some of the models sat on my painting desk.

First up, I have finished Drogo my halfling barbarian for the D&D campaign I have been playing in.

 

 I also put the final touches on my wife's Escher gang for Necromunda!! these have only taken 5 or 6 years to complete! lol. Just have to finishing basing a few then varnish and I'm done with the pink ladies for good :)

Have also been touching up the random Reaper models sitting on my desk, the fighter is getting there but the rat has just had base colour and washes so far.

 On the Imperial Guard front, I finished 5 more grunts (forgot to take pics) and converted up a "counts as" Sly Marbo. As you can see he has only had a couple of case colours put on at the moment but I am really happy with how he looks. Oh and the weird grey box is his demo charge :) any C&C is appreciated.

And finally I have been cracking on with the Heroquest stuff from the last post, skeletons need their wood shafts touching up and then they are done, the mummies are finished, the elf is complete, the barbarian is nearly done, zombies are close to complete, chaos warriors will be started tonight and the wizard, dwarf and sorceror will be finished over the next couple of nights.

 

 That just leaves the big gargoyle, which I am still not sure how I am going to do him yet, but should be finished along with everything else by next weekend or maybe the following if anything pops up in "Real Life" :)

So all going well I should be posting again soon with updates or all going well the completed Heroquest and Necromunda gang!

Break from the norm

Hi folks,

Been a while again! i'm a bad bad blogger for which i am very sorry :o)

I have had a bit of a burn out with my guard army and before i lost all interest in them i decided to get on with a couple of other bits and have a break from the ice blue menace.

First up i have 3 Gangers for my wife's necromunda gang to finish which just need a few details finishing up.

A couple of weeks ago some one kindly sent me 1k of vampire counts for nothing! so they have become my wife's fantasy army.
As i already have a my own big project in the guard army for 40k, the VC are getting a quick and dirty dipping but to keep them "Pretty" for my wife will have autumnal scenic bases.

I also have a couple of commission jobs for blood bowl teams that have come in.

First up is a Lizardman team for Chris,

We are still working out the scheme for these very cool (and some what rare i believe) models, so i have just started blocking out the parts that will be metallic with black to give the metal some oomph when it is done.

The second team I am working on is a chaos dwarf team for Matt.

These gorgeous minis are from www.gaspez-arts.com, and i am really looking forward to working with them.

One small problem i noticed after priming was that there are a few gaps and joins that need a little bit of green stuffing to smooth out.

Unfortunately the way the centaurs fore legs are put on their sprue means you end up taking a small chunk off of the top of the leg, which is only a small job and the only problem i have had with assembling the team.

Overall i am very impressed with them and will be spending a few pounds Gaspez Arts myself.

The hob-goblins will be a very pale/sickly green shade as Matt wanted a something a bit different to the normal gobbos.

Ok, thats about all from me at the moment but i will be posting the progress on here, as and when it is done.

Breaking through the barrier

Ok, i think after a few days of struggling i am hitting a bit of a barrier with my painting.

Other hobbyists i know personally seem to have the same problem occasionally too, where you sit down and KNOW that you only have a few bits to do or a couple of minis left to complete the unit/squad/army BUT you just cant find the Willpower to pick up that brush!

Suddenly that detail brush weighs a hundred tonnes and the momentum you had over the last couple of days or weeks comes grinding to a halt.

Right now i am there. I managed a few bits on a ganger and just about finished her, but i feel like i've just done a double shift at work! lol

I got some lighting strips that go under kitchen cabinets to light up my new painting space.

Unfortunately they are a little longer than i realised but will have to do for a little while until i can afford something more suitable (clicking the ads will help ;o) so please feel free! lol).

Other than the ablove ganger, I have one more that is nearing completion but i find myself avoiding it at the moment (see above) but will endevour to crack on and get her finished today/tomorrow.

Ill end with a couple of questions, do you ever hit this painting block? if so how what do you do to get yourself through?

Lack of bloggage.... I'll be back

Sorry about the lack of posts these last few days, i have been snowed under with "Real Life" :oP

My son's birthday was this weekend so it has been hectic to say the least!

I am also setting up a new painting area, moving from my old and battered Argos special computer desk, to an antique pine hide away cupboard!



Have loads to sort out in it to get it how i want it, but my wife will be very happy that when i am finished i can just close the door and the mess will be out of site!

Have got some of the lights you get for under kitchen cupboards coming so i can have a good light source of an evening, and i am looking for a solution to make a permanent micro light box on one of the shelved parts.

Got two Escher Gangers nering completion, pics to follow shortly.....

Just some quick pics, hence the poor lighting and poor picture quality but another ganger is finished. Just the base to do quickly later.

When i have finished the gang, i will endeavour to try and get some half decent pictures of them using the photo box, the reason i dont every time is simply because it is a pain in the arse to setup every day ;o)

Another one bites the dust....

Just about finished with this Escher ganger now.

Looking ate the pics, i know i have one or two bits to finish off or touch up but only really minor things really.

One down six more to go!

Have been thinking alot about my guard army lately, and looking at the figs i think i may change the scheme if i can find one i like.

I originally done some test models using random spares i had in my bits box, and although rough i do quite like them. Will Probably go for something completely different though ;o)


Hmm... will have to think on it......

Weekend off

Well, got nothing done this weekend :o( but it was the first weekend i have had in a couple of years without kids so me and the wife done some shopping, saw a film and enjoyed the peace!

By the way, Transformers 2 ROCKS! bit long but who cares when you have giant robots kicking ten shades of tin out of each other!

Did get some painting done last night, picked one lady to do. Done most of the details, and highlighted the pink up a little more.










Will finish her today and get cracking on the rest.

Plodding along

Ladies all have snazzy hair colours now, although i never did get round to highlighting the leathers so that will be the next task.

















Been reading the Soul Drinkers book and have to say i am impressed! Well written and rolls along at at good pace, well worth a look if you haven't already
.
My package containing the figure i plan to decapitate for my Imperial Guard's Heroic Senior Officer arrived today, and i cant wait to get back to them!

But first things first, i have to finish these Escher gangers!!
