Eldar, Pathfinder RPG and Bloodbowl

Hi folks,

Been a busy critter this week as it is half term break!

Managed to get the first batch of Eldar to a point where they just need some final highlights (Reapers) and the various gems finishing of (Harlequins). I even managed to crack on and make some good progress with the Wraithlord too!

They have all been based and once the final touches are done, will be winging their way back to their home :)

I have found that if I vary what I am working on, I seem to get more painting done. While finishing off the Eldar, I was also working on a couple of miniatures for my weekly Pathfinder game.

First up is Rhea, my Elven wizard - the model is Reaper Miniature's Jolie, Female Scribe. The mini is fantastic and another great example of their work! I needed to make only a couple of changes to her, her ear was a very round and human ear which needed some squashing with the side of my hobby blade to tease into an elfish point :) her sleeve also needed re-sculpting as well as the base  (Only gripe with Reaper is the pre-sculpted bases on some minis).

Next up, we have Henric my GM's character for when his wife (also a great GM) runs the weekly game of Pathfinder society. He is based on  Reaper's PaizoCon 2010 mini Grandmaster Torch, with a head swap for a GW head and a hood sculpted onto his cloak. The character is a brash and garish man, currently training to become a bloat mage and with a penchant for some seriously twisted "recreational" time.

Finally on the Pathfinder side, since the last post's pictures were so dark I tried to get some better picture of Eando Kline.

Still not having much joy in setting up a place to take decent pictures but I am working on it :)

I also received another commission job for a Bloodbowl team which I have just started building up. The zombies will all be converted to fit the Fantasy world's favourite sport a little better, you can expect to see a fair bit on these guys over the coming posts.

Also on the commission front, which came with the Wraithlord are some Hero Quest mini's from the Wizard expansion pack. Forgot to take any pics of them, but since they are just primed black at the moment, I am sure you can forgive me :)

Will be trying to get some more done before the end of the week and will try to remember to actually take pictures as I go through the different stages of painting!

As always any comments, suggestions or questions are always welcome :)

Stay frosty people,

Apoc/Rob

P.S
I saw War Horse the other week and it SUCKED! big time. Save yourself a couple of quid and go see the Muppets instead :)

Eldar update and random stuff

Been a while!

College and the holidays have both conspired against my blogging and hobbying, but i have finally found some time to do this post and even some painting!

I have some very rough pictures of what i have been doing in-between essays, assignments and being a dad. One day I will remember to look into setting up a light box or a photo spot in my little painting dungeon, any advice welcome!

First up some updated pics of the Eldar I have been working on:

Banshees need a little finishing and basing, then they are ready to go.

Warp Spiders, again, need a little bit of finishing (I messed up the symbol on a couple of their heads, that's why some look odd as they have only have a thin coat to cover the mistakes so far) and basing.

Dark Reapers are waiting for basing and their weapons.

Harlequins are coming along, have just put the halves together and finished the Death Jester/Troupe master (I'm not sure about the hierarchy of the Eldar). I am pretty happy with how they are going, I had been a bit nervous about getting under-way with them as the motley sections on them didn't look like much fun! Turned out to be easier than it looked and not nearly as time consuming as I had feared.

Was also sent a Wraithlord to paint up in the Iyanden* scheme:

Am still getting used to my airbrush, but love how nice the yellow came out! still a lot of work to do, extra armour and details still need painting blue, but so far so good!

Have been playing Pathfinder RPG quite a lot too recently and have to say, the more I play the more I love the system!

I freely admit that I was always dubious of those strange creatures that played RPGs and never imagined I would one day be one of them! as if painting and playing toy soldiers wasn't geeky enough! lol.

It has really helped that my first forays into playing RPGs were with two VERY experienced and fun GMs and both groups I played with were amazing! however I did meet a group that included the stereotypical gaming pair (like these guys Fear of Girls) and ran for the hills.

Anyway, enough rambling about it, I have painted a few characters up for my ongoing weekly session of Pathfinder but typically I don't have them with me. A couple were painted for the GM and his wife and the latest (Eando Kline) has come out really dark and grainy in the picture :( Again, I really need to sort out a light box or something!

Here are the pics anyway:

Finally, one of the best purchases I have ever made is the Pound-o-dice by Chessex. I got it from http://www.snmstuff.co.uk/ and oh biy was it worth it!

I got:

13 - d4
8 - numbered d6
14 - Standard size spot d6 - 1 with a dire wolf instead of a 6
1 - Large d6
5 - Small d6
8 - d8
22 - d10
3 - d%
8 - d12
30 - d20
Complete set of limited edition dice green numbers on cream with orange specks
3 Micro 5mm dice
and 2 craft/charm dice with holes through them to thread.

Not bad at all! and for all you war gamers, they do a pound-o-d6 too :)

Hopefully the next update won't be too far away, will do my best.

Stay frosty people,

Commissar and Eldar WIP

Sorry for the lapse in posting, I have started my college course and have been a bit side-tracked lately.

I did manage to finish my guard commissar:

I'm pretty happy with how he has turned out, I may go back and touch it up in a few places but for now he is done.

Next up I have been cracking on with the Eldar:

The Dark Reapers are nearly finished, I just need to paint up their weapons and get them based. I went for Charadon Granite mixed with Bleached Bone for the highlighting instead of Shadow grey and I am glad that I did. I painted the rune/symbol on one of them and will add it to the rest of them as well.

I have also been getting on with the Warp Spiders, they sill need a fair bit of work but should be done along with the Reapers in the next couple of days.

I still have a tonne of college work to do on top of my painting, so I am trying to get my table cleared as soon as I can without rushing the paint jobs. I still have the Howling Banshees and Harlequins to go as well as my own armies, so I need to sort out a good time table to allow me the time for my hobby as well as my work.

Will try to post again next week, depending on how I do for time. I will also stick another couple of mini tutorials together when I get the chance.

Thanks for stopping by,

Apoc/Rob
